DURHAM WINTER NIGHT SHELTER
A WARM BED ON THE COLDEST NIGHT
Providing hope for an end to homelessness
Durham Winter Night Shelter is an initiative to see God end the cycle of homelessness and addiction in Durham City by providing the most vulnerable people with a safe bed and access to vital services.
The Durham Winter Night Shelter operates predominately as a cold weather shelter over the winter months. The shelter opens when the temperature drops below 1 degrees Celsius. We have capacity for 15 rough sleepers to be guests of the night shelter. We are open to all who find themselves sleeping rough and are homeless in and around Durham. We partner with local agencies, churches, charities and businesses to provide this service. For more information see our vision and our activities.
New this winter, as part of our work to see not just the end of homelessness but to also work towards the end of the causes of homelessness we are running a weekly workshop. This workshop will bring together local health, and housing agencies along with supporting charities. Meeting one morning a week to form a "one-stop-shop" to help rough sleepers back into accommodation and deal with some of the causes that lead to their situation. For more information see our activities.
